Why Hire a Professional?
Your first instinct when you encounter a clogged or slow-moving drain may be to pour a harsh chemical cleaner down that drain in order to free up and flush away the clog. This is not really a recommended practice, though. Those chemical cleaners are far from eco-friendly, and the fact of the matter is that they are really only going to clear away as much of the clog as is necessary for the cleaner itself to move past it. This means that much of the clog will likely be left behind, and that it is only a matter of time before the clog builds itself up once more.
You may think that picking up a drain snake is a better option, and snaking out the drain probably is—but only when a professional does the job. If you attempt to do it on your own, chances are that you’ll just force the snake through the clog, meaning that you’ll allow enough water to pass through it to mistake it for being cleared. Again, it is only a matter of time before that clog is fully active once more. Make the right choice for the drain and sewer system, and always hire a trained professional to handle your drain cleaning needs.
