Determine the hardness of the water – hardness of water refers to the level of mineralization in your water. High mineralization isn’t bad for you, but it can be bad for your plumbing system.

E. coli is included in this group. While fecal coliforms and e. coli aren’t harmful themselves, a test indicating high levels of them usually means there are other dangerous microbes in your water.
